Multidisciplinary expertise and education with strength in bridging between science and policy. More than 40 years of international work experience in environment and sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and resilient cities, with a wide range of diversified workplaces. He is a former regional coordinator at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Areas of expertise include professional advice and services on strategic planning, governance and institutional development and setup, developing strategies, frameworks and action plans for environment and sustainable development, science-based environmental assessments and policy-relevant reporting on environment and sustainable development. Abdel-Kader has extensive experience in program and project development and management, including proposal writing. His current focus is on climate change, disaster risk reduction and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to support governments, civil society, and the private sector to link and integrate SDGs into development paths and investment opportunities.
The type of work he led over the years armored him with extensive experience in planning and coordinating large-scale assessment processes, inter-agency and inter-governmental negotiations, building partnerships and networking functions. He is active in the global environmental movement and a staunch supporter of using the digital world into the environment He is tech-savvy and is always on the lookout for trending ideas and innovations to bring to the environmental field.
